Description

Situated just two miles from Junction 17 of the M4, midway between Swindon and Bath, Plough Lane is ideally placed for visiting Wiltshire, the Cotswolds, Bath, Bristol and South Wales. For the 2009 season we open from 27th March to 1st November.

As an 'Adults Only' site, we do not accept children at any time. Our intention in providing this type of site is to offer our guests somewhere to relax away from bikes and ball games in friendly, clean and well maintained surroundings.

We have 50 level pitches attractively set out in four acres of landscaped shrub beds. All pitches are 50% hardstanding and 50% grass, have easy access from Cotswold stoned roads and are level. Each pitch has a 16 amp electric hook-up and half (our service pitches) have water and waste water disposal points on the pitch. We accept touring caravans and motorhomes.

We welcome dogs and have a field adjacent to the site for exercising them. Unfortunately we have to limit them to a maximum of 2 per pitch.

The site is extremely easy to find, with no small roads or lanes in which to manoeuvre.

Our facilities block is heated and has free hot water and showers. We also have a separate disabled shower and toilet room. Both facilities have won 'Loo of the Year' awards.

Other facilities include:

Security barrier to site.
Spacious shower cubicles with free hot water.
Individual washing cubicles.
Free hair dryers.
Launderette with washing, drying and ironing facilities.
Free spin dryer.
Both undercover and indoor dishwashing sinks with free hot water.
Well stocked tourist information area with library (books and jigsaws).
Pay Phone on site.
Dog exercise field with stoned walkway.
Bus service from outside the site.
Two village pubs within walking distance.
Supermarket nearby.
Wireless internet access.

Local Attractions

Chippenham is one of the oldest towns in England (King Alfred the Great held his court here in the 9th Century) and the town is an ideal base for touring the surrounding areas of Wiltshire, Somerset and the Cotswolds.

The World Heritage City of Bath is within easy reach as are Lacock and Castle Combe, two of the most beautiful villages in England.

There are many interesting towns and villages to visit in the area, and a wide variety of places to walk or just take in the scenery. The market town of Devizes with its famous flight of canal locks is within easy reach. Swindon (renowned for its railway history) is only 20 minutes drive away.

For prehistoric interest, North Wiltshire offers serious competition to the more famous stone circle of Stonehenge (although this is only one hour's drive from the site). The ancient track known as the Ridgeway runs along the crest of the Marlborough Downs. The Avebury stone circles are regarded as one of the most important prehistoric monuments in Britain, and nearby Silbury Hill and the notorious crop circles still baffle the experts!
